 —  —

Elks Lodge, 608 W Stevenson St, Freeport, Illinois

This is a fundraiser for the NorthWest Illinois Children’s Dyslexia Center in Freeport, Illinois.

The Dyslexia Center, located in Freeport, began operation in the fall of 2004. The center’s goals are to provide state of the art multi-sensory tutorial reading and written language instruction to children with dyslexia, free of charge. They also are a training facility for tutors using the Orton-Gillingham approach.

The center currently has 18 students enrolled with eight certified tutors. They also have one off-site certified tutor and one off-site trainee at Tri-County Christian School.

On average, one student completing one year of tutoring at the Dyslexia Center costs $5,000. Donations from 100 Women Who Care-Stephenson County members will be used to sponsor two children for a year.
